Many years ago, four hundred years after Christ, when rule by the Romans began to fall, that’s when the Middle Ages began. In 890 the Vikings began coming to Ireland. After a few years, Vikings began to take over the country. Soon they started to build towns and ports. When the Vikings attacked France they began to be known as the Normans.
When Strongbow took over Ireland, the Pope asked Henry II to come over with the rest of the Normans and teach him a lesson. After a while the helmets and armour began to change. In the eleventh century, smaller battles started in England and also in Greece. The English and Turks began to become famous for longbows and crossbows. Then in the fourteenth century, cannonballs and catapults were invented and it became easier to destroy the castles.
