Our Day of History

2006/2007 > Cuairteoirí > Michael Moylan

Today a man came to visit our school. His name was Mike. First we helped him to take the things out of his van. We were amazed by how many things he had. There were swords, helmets, armour, chain-mail, all kind of weapons. There was even a gun. When we had everything sorted out, we began.

First he picked out a few people, gave them different weapons and named the swords and the time they came from. Lots of things were from the Bronze Age.

There were helmets of all different shapes and sizes, and after a while we got around to these. Again people tried them on. It was very funny. Stacey and I got to make sparks come out of flintstone by rubbing it with a metal bar on its side.

Mike took out a very big bow called a longbow and told us that trying to pull back the string as far as your cheek is like trying to lift seven stones with one hand. Also, monks used to fight with swords. And if you think that is bad:
nuns used to fight as well!!!! After that we all dressed up in olden-style clothes and took photographs.
